Nihal Engin VRANA, PhD, VP Scientific Affairs
Dr. Nihal Engin VRANA holds a B.Sc. (Biology) and a M.Sc. (Biotechnology) from Middle East Technical University. He obtained his PhD in 2009 at Dublin City University as a Marie Curie ESR fellow. His major research interests are titanium and silicone implants, tissue engineering, cell encapsulation, multifunctional coatings, immunomodulation, real-time monitoring of implants and cell biomaterials interactions.
He coordinated two multipartner (both academic and industrial), multinational EU projects (BiMot and IMMODGEL and currently coordinating a H2020 project (PANBioRA, 17 partners from 11 countries). He has published 62 peer reviewed articles (more than 1400 citations, h-index:22, journals including New England Journal of Medicine, Trends in Biotechnology, Biotechnology Advances, Biomaterials and Nanoscale), 7 book chapters, holds 6 patents and edited 2 books.
Julien BARTHES, PhD, Collaborative Project Manager
Dr Julien BARTHES is a collaborative project manager at PROTiP Medical. He holds two master’s degrees in physical/chemical properties of polymers and in polymer science (ECPM, Strasbourg). He obtained in PhD in 2014 at Strasbourg in Inserm (French National Institute of Health and Medical Research) in “Biomaterials and Bioengineering” department. His main research areas are hydrogel development, titanium implants, tissue engineering, cell biomaterials interactions and release of bioactive molecules in cell microenvironment. He was in charge of material development and in vivo tests in a European Project (FP7 IMMODGEL) and he is now a scientific contributor in a European Project (Horizon 2020, PANBioRA) coordinated by PROTiP Medical.
Céline MULLER, Laboratory Technician
Céline MULLER is a Laboratory Technician at PROTiP Medical. She obtained her 12th grade in Bioanalyses and controls from Georges de la Tour High School of Metz in 2015. Then she obtained a bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology applied for Health from Pharmacy Faculty of Reims in 2016. She contributed in a European project (FP7, Immodgel) with her technical knowledges and expertise in cell culture, molecular biology and biochemistry. She is now working in another European project coordinated by PROTiP Medical (Horizon 2020, PANBioRa).
